How to Import Hand Tools from China
A step-by-step look at how a wholesale hand tool order moves from first inquiry to arrival at your warehouse.
Step 1 · Select Products
Confirm specifications, packaging and quantity. MOQ is kept low and mixed orders are supported, so you can test several categories in one shipment. Start from our product categories, or tell us what you need and we will shortlist items for you.
Step 2 · Request a Sample
Check quality before committing to a container. Samples using existing molds ship in 4–5 days; new molds take 20–30 days. See the sample policy for cost and freight terms.

Step 3 · Confirm Quotation and Terms
We confirm unit price, MOQ, packaging, lead time and payment terms. Payment terms are listed on our payment and shipping page. Prices are quoted FOB Qingdao by default.
Step 4 · Production and Inspection
Production takes 15–30 days after order confirmation. Goods pass in-process and pre-shipment inspection, and buyer-appointed third-party inspection (SGS, BV, TÜV) is welcome before shipment.

Step 5 · Packing, Loading and Documents
We pack, load and prepare the export documents: commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading. A Certificate of Origin can be applied for on request. Shipments leave from Qingdao, Lianyungang or Rizhao, with FCL and LCL options.

Step 6 · Clearance and Delivery
Your customs broker or freight forwarder handles local clearance and final delivery. Import duties, taxes and customs clearance are the buyer’s responsibility.

HS Codes and Destination-Market Requirements
HS code details are prepared during quotation and should be verified by your local customs broker. Hand tools are generally classified under Chapter 82 of the Harmonized System, but the exact subheading is determined by your destination customs authority.
Product compliance requirements differ by market. Some destinations require specific certifications or labelling — please confirm the requirements for your market with your broker or authority. We provide product specifications and support documentation on request. Certification documents are provided only after verification.
Frequently Asked Questions
What documents will I receive with my shipment?
Commercial Invoice, Packing List and Bill of Lading (or Air Waybill) are standard. A Certificate of Origin can be applied for on request. Insurance certificates are provided for CIF shipments.
Can you ship DDP (deliver duty paid) to my country?
DDP is available on request for selected destinations. We will quote the all-in landed cost including duties and taxes, provided your destination, HS code and product details are confirmed. The buyer is responsible for any duty rate change between quotation and delivery.
Can I use my own freight forwarder?
Yes. Send the booking confirmation to our shipping coordinator and we will release the cargo against it. If you do not have a forwarder, we can introduce one based on your destination and order size.
Who handles customs clearance on the import side?
Your customs broker or nominated freight forwarder handles import clearance, duties and taxes in your country. Import duties, VAT and local clearance are the buyer’s responsibility. We support with HS code advice, product specifications and any export-side documents you need.
What is the Harmonized System (HS) code for hand tools?
Hand tools are generally classified under Chapter 82 of the Harmonized System (e.g. 8203 for pliers, 8204 for hand spanners and wrenches, 8205 for hand tools not elsewhere specified). The exact subheading is determined by your local customs authority — please confirm with your broker before importing.
